In addition to its relays in cinemas and on the internet, this summer the Bolshoi is to initiate open air transmissions of its productions. To this purpose, a special screen has been erected on the famous eight-columned façade of the Theatre’s historic Main Stage which will provide all those standing in the square with an unparalleled opportunity of communing with the arts. Christopher Wheeldon’s new ballet Strapless will receive its world premiere in London tonight and is part of an all Wheeldon mixed programme which includes After the Rain and Within the Golden Hour. The Bolshoi will stage the same programme in 2017. Strapless is inspired by the book by Deborah Davis.
