Yuri Alexeyev was born in Krasnoyarsk. In 1991, he graduated from the Rostov Rakhmaninov Conservatoire (class of B. Mazur). The same year, he joined the Voronezh Opera and Ballet Theatre, where his repertoire included Alfredo (La traviata), Lensky (Eugene Onegin), Young Gypsy (Aleko) and Turiddu (Cavalleria rusticana).
Yury Alexeyev joined the Mariinsky Opera Company in 1996, making his debut as Alfredo (La traviata).
