Pavel Klinichev graduated from the Moscow State Conservatoire in 2000 (choral, opera and symphony conducting). A year later, he became the Bolshoi staff conductor.
His repertoire includes many of the masterpieces of Western and Russian opera and ballet.
In 2002, Maestro Klinichev made his debut at the Bolshoi as Music Director in Marice Jarre’s Notre dame de Paris (choreography by Roland Petit) followed by Shostakovich’s The Golden Age (2006), Adan’s Le CorsaireClass Concert to music by Glazunov, Lyadov, Rubinstein, Shostakovich (2007), Levenskiold’s La Sylphide, Minkus’ Grand Pas from the ballet Paquita (2008), Pugni’s Esmeralda (2009), Le Jeune Homme et La Mort to Bach’s Passacaglia (2010), Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring (2013).
Maestro Klinichev was Music Director of number opera and ballet productions in other Russian theatres: The Tsar’s Bride and Swan Lake in Ekaterinburg; Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet in Rostov-on-Don; I Pagliacci, Iolanta and Eugene Oneginin Astrakhan.
Maestro Klinichev appeared with the Bolshoi Opera, Ballet and Orchestra at the most prestigious venues, including Teatro alla Scala, The Metropolitan Opera, The Royal Opera House Covent Garden, The John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, Opera Garnier, Bunka Kaikan (Tokyo), The National Centre for the Performing Arts (Beijing) and many others.
Mr. Klinichev has appeared with The Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Santa Cecilia Conservatory Orchestra, Taipei Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the West (California), St. Petersburg, Rostov-na-Donu and Saratov Symphony Orchestras with different symphony programs.
Maestro Klinichev’s recordings include a CD with the Bolshoi Chamber Orchestra (Universal label) and a DVD (Khachaturian’s Spartacus performed by The Bolshoi Ballet and Orchestre Colonne) with DECCA label.
He currently teaches symphony conducting at the Moscow State Conservatory.
In 2010-2015 Maestro Kliniched was Chief Conductor of the Ekaterinburg Opera Theatre.
