ELITA BUKOVSKA graduated from the Riga Choreography School, class of Marina Sizova (1985), and the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (1993), where she studied choreography. She has been the ballet artist at the Lithuanian State Opera and Ballet Theatre (1985-1987) and the Latvian Independent Ballet company (1990-1992).
She has worked as a choreographer and ballet master at the Latvian Youth Theatre (1993-1995) and as the Ballet Administrator of the Latvian National Opera Ballet Company since 1996.
As a choreographer and movement consultant, Elita Bukovska has participated in more than 45 opera and theatre productions including Eugene Onegin, Salome, Don Carlos, The Birds' Opera, Die Zauberflöte, Orfeo ed Euridice, Un ballo in maschera, Der fliegende Holländer, The Demon, The Queen of the Spades, Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Le nozze di Figaro, Carmen, La Traviata at the Latvian National Opera, Rigoletto at the Lithuanian Opera and Ballet Theatre, as well as productions at the Latvian theatres.
She has made her debut as the opera director with the production of Jānis Lūsēns' children opera The Puppet Opera at the Latvian National Opera. Elita Bukovska has collaborated with the stage directors such as Viesturs Kairišs, Alvis Hermanis, Baņuta Rubess, Mihails Gruzdovs, Pēteris Krilovs, Andrejs Žagars, Gintaras Varnas, Vera Nemirova, and Georgy Isaakian among others.
Elita Bukovska has been the stage director for such large-scale events as the Great Latvian Music Award (2005), Latvian Republic Independence Anniversary Concert (2005), World Ice Hockey Championship Opening Ceremony (2006), Latvijas Gāze Annual Award concert and ceremony (2006, 2008), the Latvian National Opera's New Year Gala (2008).
