Operalia – Double Victory for Bolshoi Soloists

Olga Kulchinskaya was awarded 3rd prize, and Bogdan Volkov – 2nd prize. The Competition was founded by Plácido Domingo in 1993 and every year 40 singers aged from 18-30 take part. The finalists in past years have included: Inva Mula, Nina Stemme, José Cura, Erwin Schrott, Joyce DiDonato, Ludovic Tézier, Rolando Villazón, Carmen Giannattasio , Maya Kovalevskaya; Elena Manistina, Dmitri Korchak, Mikhail Petrenko, Vassily Ladyuk, Olga Peretyatko, Dinara Alieva, Konstantin Shushakov. The Competition wound up on 24 July with a ceremony at the Teatro Degollado, in Guadalajara, Mexico, at which - in accordance with tradition - the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra was conducted by Plácido Domingo himself.
