November, 26 2014 He mentioned: "A whole generation of our composers, artists, actors, musicians and ballet masters learnt from Russian masters of art; therefore, I would like to express the deepest gratitude to Russia for having made such valuable contributions into the development classical art in Mongolia". Munkhzul Chuluunbat, the General Director of the Mongolian State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, continued the same idea. She reminded the audience that the company was founded in 1963, and Tchaikovsky's opera "Eugene Onegin" became its first production. She added: "Since that time the theatre has staged over 50 opera productions, and as many ballets; the company has been mastering the classical heritage, and has reached the international level". She then said that all this success would have been impossible to achieve but for the impact that Russian pedagogues had had. The General Director of the theatre concluded: "We remember their invaluable help and support, and we are extremely grateful and respectful for that". Photo: Damir Yusupov One could make conclusions about achievements of the Mongolian performing school by merely looking at the playbill of the gala concert; the concert title - "Golden V oices of Mongolia" - spoke for itself as well. The gala starred winners of prestigious international vocal competitions and festivals. For instance, the baritone Enkhbat Amartuvshin, who is only 24 years old, is the winner of the 2nd prize and the Audience Award of the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition and the winner of the Placido Domingo competition OPERALIA (2012). Uyanga Unushikhbayar (soprano), Gombo-Ochir Byambajav (tenor), Dorjkhorloo Regzen (mezzo-soprano), Enkhbold Ankhbayar (baritone) and other famous Mongolian singers performed in the concert as well. They presented masterpieces of the world opera classics - arias from operas by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, V erdi, Puccini and Saint-SaГ«ns. The singers were accompanied by the Russian National Orchestra. Anna Aglatova, a Bolshoi Theatre soloist, and an Honored Artist of Russia Elena Manistina were special guests of the concert. Elena Manistina mentioned: "Mongolian singers have remarkable voices and wonderful energy". She added: "I was very happy to work with them, and I would like to have guest performances in Mongolia very much". The director of the Mongolian theatre made her an offer right away. She promised: "Naturally, we are happy to invite Elena to perform at our theatre; we will also be glad to send our artists for guest performances to Moscow". The photo exhibition about the history of the Mongolian State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet became a kind of a prologue to the concert. The exposition was presented at the Bolshoi Theatre's Foyer and gave the public the chance to learn about the most significant productions of the renowned Mongolian company. For example, there were pictures of such productions as "The Nutcracker", "Swan Lake" and "Sleeping Beauty" by Tchaikovsky, as well as national operas - "Genghis Khan" by Sharov and "The Three Sad Hills" by Damdinsuren. This was a return visit of the Mongolian artists after the project "Performances of Russian Ballet Stars" that took place in Ulan Bator last year. The festival "Context.
